An interactive and preservative abstraction of the extinct megadytes ducalis.
An exercise in production and reproduction.

The megadytes ducalis is an extinct species of waterbug discovered in Brazil. Despite being the largest in its family, the ducalis is elusive, thought to be one of the world’s rarest insects.

This project is the result of an effort to immortalize the beetle in an interactive sculptural form.

Consistency was paramount with this project; recognizing the difference between crafting something once and being able to do it twice more to reasonable accuracy was enlightening.
